Psychological Services

A school psychologist has several school assignments within the district. The primary roles of the psychologist are to assist the school in providing appropriate classroom academic and behavioral interventions; participate in the Problem Solving Team process; administer psychoeducational assessments; and provide support services to identified students. Other services provided by the school psychologists are:

  • Intervention design and implementation
  • Consultation with parents, school staff and other professionals
  • Classroom observations
  • Evaluation research and design

School Psychology in St. Lucie County is a dynamic profession! Psychological Services is comprised of School Psychologists and Educational Diagnosticians. We were recognized with the FASP Department of the Year Award in 2003.

Many of our school psychologists are members of the Florida Association of School Psychologists (http://www.fasp.org) and are active in attending many of the professional development opportunities available through the association.

Meet our Educational Diagnosticians

Educational Diagnosticians are an important part of the Psychological Services Group. They administer re-evaluation instruments for students enrolled in Exceptional Education programs. In addition, they support the Problem Solving Team evaluation process by administering some of the required test instruments. Those tests are forwarded to the school psychologist for review. Once the evaluation process is completed, these tests, as well as other evaluation instruments, are reviewed with the parent, teacher and other key school personnel.
