Welcome to Mariposa Elementary – the Home of the Monarchs – one of the largest elementary schools in St. Lucie Public Schools. Over the past eight years as principal of Mariposa, I have seen our school, student body, PTO, and instructional programs grow into one of the finest elementary schools in the district. We are blessed with a fabulous staff and wonderful parents and students in grades VPK through 5th grade. Since 2005, we have earned a school grade of “A” from the state of Florida four times; once in 2005, 2007, 2010, and again in 2011. Our school of 760 students has been recognized by the state’s PBS (Positive Behavior Support) program as a model school, achieving the Silver Level Award two years in a row. Mariposa has also received the prestigious Gold Award four years in a row and the Five Star Award three years in a row from the Florida Department of Education. Over the last three years, our school has participated in the NEED (National Energy Education Development) project and attended the National NEED Conference in Washington, D.C. placing as a State Finalist four times and a National Level finalist three times. We also offer afterschool tutoring as well as a number of musical opportunities – choir, band, and the only hand bell group in an elementary school in St. Lucie County. Additionally, we have a Parent Resource Room that our parents and their toddlers can use for meetings. I am enormously proud of our students, staff, and parents here at Mariposa. Come visit us and you’ll see why!
