Exercise Science

This program offers a sequence of courses which prepare students for education and careers in the Health Science career cluster. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for the wellness and fitness marketplace including instructing or coaching groups or individuals in exercise activities and the fundamentals of an individual’s health and wellness. Personal trainers demonstrate techniques and methods of participation, observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary to improve their skills and personal health. The program is designed to prepare students for employment as personal trainers.

This program supports students' college and career readiness. Students are college and career ready when they have the knowledge, skills, and academic preparation needed to enroll and succeed in college credit-bearing courses within an associate or bachelor degree program without the need for remediation. Students need these same attributes and levels of achievement to enter and succeed in post-secondary workforce education or to enter a career path offering a living wage and future advancement.
