Talent Development Offerings

Online Courses via Canvas LMS

The Talent Development Department offers an array of professional development courses for St. Lucie Public Schools non-instructional and instructional staff members via Canvas.
SLPS employees are expected to:

  • complete courses with the highest level of integrity
  • complete each assignment individually by the scheduled due dates
  • collaborate with colleagues within the course and participate in group discussion boards
  • receive full credit on all assignments (if asked to resubmit).

Highly Effective Strategies

Strategies for Highly Effective Teaching – This course offers a variety of teaching modules based on grade level. This module does not require pre-registration in Frontline. Simply click on the link to self-enroll in the Canvas course and choose the pathways that best fit your needs. Once you are enrolled in the course, you will have access to it for the entire school year via your Canvas Dashboard. Upon completion of a pathway(s), you will earn a Badge which you can submit to Frontline for in-service points.

Microsoft Online Pathways: Participants select from a variety of modules to learn more about the applications within Office 365.  Completion of the full pathway will lead to Microsoft Certification.

Leaders of Innovative Technology

Are you wishing you were more involved with technology infusion on your campus? Do you have great ideas to integrate technology in your classroom and want to share it with others? If you answered yes, then Leaders of Innovative Technology (#LITslps) is the cohort for you! 

SLPS is proud to offer three technology cohorts made up of teachers to take the lead and grow the implementation of technology in their classrooms and throughout their school sites.

Talent Development is focusing on the technology integration matrix for classroom instruction and technology leadership opportunities. Each cohort will participate in virtual PLC’s, coaching cycles, video-based coaching, Microsoft collaboration and professional development opportunities. In addition, participants will receive support and feedback from district Leaders of Innovative Technology specialists.

Each year you will work towards earning technology certifications along with personal goals for leading technology for instruction across your school site.

Canvas Courses for Non-Instructional Employees

All non-instructional staff will learn customer service skills to welcome our students, staff and community back to campuses and worksites. This course is self-paced and designed to be completed over a two-hour period if done continuously.

Micro-Learning Modules

PL on Demand offers professional learning at your fingertips, designed intentionally so that strategies can be instantly put into practice! Access the micro-learning modules anytime, anywhere! Each session is broken into bite-sized learning which can be completed in approximately 1-hour. Micro-learning modules include direct instruction videos from expert trainers, activities, and additional resources to dive deeper into the following focus areas: Empowered Educator Wellness, Creating Collaborative Communities, Strategies for Student Success, and Elevating Professional Practices.
