The purpose of this show is to focus on parents and families within our district. You play a pivotal role in the life of your child/children. They look to you for comfort after a long day, help with homework, and when they received a good grade on a test. You are the glue that guides your family to success. The role of the parent may look different from household to household. We see you, value you and are here to support you and your family.
Early learning starts at home with our amazing families! We want to thank YOU for your commitment to your child’s education.
Please check out our SLPS early leaning resources.
Early Learning Standards
Please click the picture below with information about the Early Learning Standards. Parents will find descriptions of the 8 learning domains and descriptions of what a child should be able to do at each age level. There are also wonderful suggestions of what parents can do to strengthen learning in each of those domains.
Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS)
FDLRS works closely with St. Lucie Public Schools. The acronym FDLRS stands for the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System. They are a statewide network of specialized centers that provide support services to exceptional education programs. St. Lucie County’s center is in SLPS’ district office. If a disability is suspected, FDLRS will provide a screening of the child and if necessary, refer the child to our exceptional student education office for a full evaluation. Resources, support, and guidance are provided to the parents.
Car Seat Safety
Car seat safety is important to remember with young children. Check out Safe Kids Worldwide for more safety tips for car seats.
Early Learning Coalition
If a parent would like to enroll their child in a VPK Program, the first step would be to apply for a VPK Certificate of Eligibility through the Early Learning Coalition website (please click the picture below) and then use the VPK Certificate of Eligibility to enroll with a Private Provider Preschool or Head Start. The Early Learning Coalition can provide families with a list of all VPK providers in our county and can be reached at 772-595-6424.
