Take the pledge to get up and move!
It is easy to get caught sitting for an extended period while working behind a desk. A good motto to live by especially this summer is “Sit for 60, Move for 3.” Ask yourself, what can you do in 3 minutes? The answer is, a lot! If you work a 10-hour day, this equals an extra 30 minutes of movement daily.
Movement ideas:
- Walk/jog in place
- Schedule a walking meeting
- Use the stairs instead of the elevator
- Take the longer route to the restroom or break room
- Stretch at your desk
- Get up and go talk in-person with a colleague instead of emailing or calling them
- Walk outside for some fresh air
- Walk around the building
- Stand up while you are on a phone call
- Stand, drop, and squat
