If I took a Reading Endorsement course recently will that count for reading hours?
Yes. If Reading Endorsement courses/hours were accrued within 5 years from the beginning date of the certificate to be renewed, those hours will meet the 40-hour requirement.
I have applied to the FLDOE to add my Reading Endorsement and have received a statement of eligibility. Can I use those courses that were met via transcripts for the 40-hour requirement for renewal?
Yes. If the verified courses were taken within 5 years from the beginning date of the certificate to be renewed, the courses could be used for renewal. Those courses can only be used for that certificate renewal. Although Reading Endorsement in-service hours are bankable, only those in-service hours within 5 years from the beginning date of the certificate to be renewed are eligible to be used towards the 40-hour reading requirement.
Will the 40-hour reading requirement be in addition to the 120 hours or 2 courses previously required for re-certification?
No. The 40-hour requirement will count toward the existing 120 hours to recertify. This is in addition to the required 20 hours of Students with Disabilities (SWD) training to recertify.
